the shop: Dansk Congo ice bucket

Designed in 1955 by legendary Danish architect Jens Harald Quistagaard, the Congo ice bucket/ wine cooler was inspired by the hull of a viking ship and has become a mid-century modern design classic. A large (19") Model 811 version will be added to the antikmodern site in the next few days. Other notable pieces on the way to the shop this month include a sculptural set of four dining chairs by Johannes Andersen, a clever expanding kitchen/ dining table from Slagelse Mobelvaerk, a beautifully made rolling cart from Swedish company Seffle and a classic Danish teak coffee table designed by Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen for France & Son.
