La Fonda del Sol was the lavishly decorated Latin American restaurant designed by Alexander Girard and opened in New York's Time-Life Building in 1960. Every aspect of the interior had been meticulously designed by Girard, whose signature folk art style designs were evident on everything from menu cards to dinner plates to floor and wall tiles. Although La Fonda del Sol closed in the early 70's it's now regarded as being a design concept ahead of its time and for showcasing some of the best examples of Girard's unique work
