Verner Panton's 1960 'total environment' experiment at The Astoria Hotel, Trondheim, Norway. Communal spaces for the building, such as the entry area, a day restaurant with wintergarten and an evening restaurant with dance floor, were designed by Panton. Walls, floors and ceilings were covered in Panton's Optical Art-inspired patterns in variations of the same colour. Fixtures and fittings included the Panton Cone Chair, the Panton Heart Chair and lighting designed by Topan. More photos after the jump Images via The Daily Icon |
