Hotel on Rivington is situated on NYC's Lower East Side, an area formerly synonymous with seedy nightlife, poverty and a large immigrant community. The 21 storey glass clad tower sits amongst some fairly run down pre war buildings and has come to symbolise pockets of gentrification to this remarkably diverse part of Manhattan over the last decade or so. Room rates have risen quite a bit since I stayed at the hotel during their soft opening in April 2005 but you can still sometimes bag a decent rate if you're prepared to shop around a little.
