well read: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog

Looking back over the books I've written about, I seem to err towards stories about unremarkable lives where not much happens but you are really drawn in. I felt the same way reading this autobiographical novel from Dylan Thomas. I liked the randomness of Thomas's thoughts and the way he recollects events from his childhood and in to young adulthood almost in a detached way, but is still able to skilfully bring to life his characters. Great prose from one of the last century's greatest poets. New and used copies of the book are available to order via Abebooks
