Like a lot of kids I first came across this novel written by William Golding whilst at school. The book is probably best known for the questions it raises about the nature of man, but aside from that and the thing that I most enjoyed most about it is it's a really great adventure story. There are some very disturbing moments, some of which are left to the reader's imagination to suss out what's happened, and it's not a book that left me with a warm feeling after I'd finished, but it's a brilliant read whether you're reading it for the first time or even the second or third.
