If you're after a light hearted read, Giovanni Guareschi's series of hugely entertaining and humorous books about the maverick priest of a small town in Northern Italy are well worth seeking out. Following a little research on the author I've come to the conclusion he might be the sort of chap you could easily spend a long boozy lunch with - I imagine him to be argumentative, amusing, passionate about his beliefs, and in fact rather like the main character from his novels, Don Camillo New and used copies of this book, as well as others in the Don Camillo series, are available to order via Abebooks |
